The old town fire station has been repurposed as a visitor hostel offering comfortable bunk house accommodation for up to 26 guests. Visiting groups enjoy sole use of the Centre, which is compact and easily managed. We do ask groups to leave the Centre in a clean and tidy condition so we can keep hire costs down. The centrally heated accommodation comprises:​​

Accommodation
Ground Floor: Entrance hall, fully equipped kitchen, dining/recreational area 85 sq. metres in size, plus two sleeping cabins, showers, toilets with disabled access and a drying room.​

Upper Floor: Four additional sleeping cabins. Residents lounge to relax during your stay with views across the harbour.​

Beds & Rooms: up to 26 guests can sleep at the Centre in bunk beds. There are: three rooms with 6 beds, one room with 4 beds and two rooms with 2 beds. ​Please bring your own towels, sleeping bags or duvets.

Access: The Centre offers an accessible shower and WC on the ground floor. with an adjacent bed room.​

Location: situated overlooking the sea in the old port town of Harwich. The harbour front, beach, promenade are close by. The visitor centre, Electric Palace Cinema, museums, local shops and sailing club are within easy walking distance. A range of cafes and take aways and pubs offer local alternatives to self catering.

Activities: Harwich Green and the beach provide out doors space for recreation, free public launching ramp for boating, long distance cycle route and footpath, visitor trails, guided walks and a seasonal foot ferry service across the harbour to Suffolk.. Directions by Road: Follow A120 to Harwich Quay, continue past the Navy Yard Wharf. The Centre is located in Cow Lane adjacent to the historic Electric Palace Cinema. Free on-street parking.

Public Transport: Harwich Town Railway Station is a short walk from the Centre. Trains to and from Manningtree link with main line London Liverpool Street - Norwich services . The Harwich bus terminus is also close by.
